Tuesday 11th July - walk *** Newbourne Springs - sunny periods .
The started well when I saw I had two pics in the local paper, the EADT and
was hoping to go windsurfing again today but the wind was slow to build. So
I did my exercises in the sunny back garden, then Mag and I were going out
for a picnic but had to walk to Lidl via Felixstowe prom and the wind had
built so I left Mag to do the shopping and went home to get my windsurfing
kit. I headed down to Squiz Lane at The Manor and it looked good, fairly
cross shore with white horses so I quickly set up my foil board and was
rigging my 6.5 but then the wind offshore and dropped, it looked really
unstable and I could not wait for things sort themselves out as I had
arranged to pick up two Tushingham sails I have just bought to replace my
much loved Tushingham Thunderbird 6.5 which has now died having used it 95
times so it does owe me a penny. So I went home for lunch then made a
flask, packed snacks then Mag and I drove over to Newbourne Springs for a
walk around the reserve, always one of our favourites:) Saw loads of black
sheep but sadly not much wildlife. We ambled around the railway sleepers
rrunning by the springs and sat up in the heath section to enjoy our cuppa
with some top clouds overhead:) Then back to the van and called in to
Katies Plants where Mag bought three plants from the sale section before
driving over to Bucklesham where I was picking up my new sails but we
called into Bucklesham Church for the first time ever, lovely old church
too:) I picked up my new sails from a very nice young man, a 6.5 and 5.5 in
good condition at a bargain price, cant wait to try them out!
Then after tea we had some torrential rain, thunder and lightning too so I
jumped in the van and went looking for a rainbow and quickly found one at
the end of our road. I drove down to The Fludyers and around to The Dip as
the storm headed past Bawdsey. I ended up at Felixstowe Ferry as the sun
came out as the Ferry sailing club dinghy racing was starting on the River
Deben with a rainbow over them, just stunning:) I got a few pics before
heading for home, both our cat got soaked too!
